Return to the Use of Face Coverings for Pupils

Home / Return to the Use of Face Coverings for Pupils

10th June 2021

Dear Parents and Carers

Following the text we sent yesterday regarding face masks to be worn by pupils in classrooms and communal areas, firstly thank you for your overwhelming support. To put context to this we have received notification from the Director of Education for Manchester that Greater Manchester has moved to an ‘Enhanced Response Area’ due to the rise in Covid-19 cases in the region.

The Director of Public Heath for Manchester now recommends that all secondary schools and colleges return to the use of face coverings for pupils in schools, in classrooms and communal areas.

In light of this news, please can you ensure that your child continues to bring their plain face mask to school, ready for wearing in the classroom, and inside the school building.

I am fully aware that wearing face masks can be uncomfortable in this heat, but I hope you can continue to support us in doing our very best to reduce the risk of infection, and to prevent any further positive cases and school absences through having to self- isolate.

We shall keep you informed of any further changes.

Yours sincerely,

Ms S. Finlay
