7th May 2021
Dear Parents and Carers,
RE: Year 11 grading arrangements and programme of study
I am writing to you to further outline the grading arrangements and forthcoming programme of study for Year 11.
As per my previous correspondence, Dean Trust Ardwick’s Centre Policy for the awarding of grades this summer can be found for you to read at https://www.deantrustardwick.co.uk/governance/policies/ . We strongly encourage you to read through this policy so that you are fully aware the processes and procedures around awarding GCSE and vocational qualification grades for the 2021 cohort.
Your child will now have completed a series of Trust Assessments which are being internally and externally marked to ensure accuracy and these papers can be used as part of the evidence exam boards need for us to consider when determining teacher assessment grades. In addition to this, over the forthcoming weeks (up until half term) your child will be completing a vital set of mini assessments in all subjects to ensure we have a broad and accurate evidence base of your child’s ability. It is important to us that all pupils are provided with as many opportunities as possible to demonstrate their attainment. Please be assured that the mini assessments will only assess content that has been taught during face to face education so that no child is disadvantaged by any missed learning time. Please see the timetable for mini assessments enclosed within this letter.
The mini assessments and completion of coursework units in vocational subjects will continue up until half term, Friday 28th May. I cannot impress upon you enough the importance of your child continuing to study and apply themselves fully during these few weeks so that the evidence we have is a fair and accurate representation of their ability.
After half term, the Year 11 programme of study will be as below. Attendance on all days is compulsory:
Monday, 7th Wednesday, 9th June | Post-16 transition sessions: - World of work - Leadership and independence - Preparing for study/enrollment - Talks from post-16 providers and employers | Pupils arrive at normal time until 2.10pm (pupils can then stay for lunch or leave at the end of period 5) |
Thursday, 10th June | Individual appointments with form tutors to discuss: - Post-16 destinations - Enrollment - Support with transition | Pupils (and parents) arrive only at given appointment time |
Friday, 11th June | Leaver’s assembly |
We will be in further contact soon to provide you with your appointment times for Thursday, 11th June and arrangements for the Leaver’s Assembly.
Yours faithfully,
Miss S Whittington
Assistant Headteacher
