Dear Year 11,
It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the Prom has been cancelled. I’m sure you will have seen in the news that COVID restrictions have been extended to July the 19th at the earliest, this has extended the period that large indoor events are unable to take place.

My first thoughts were to enquire whether we could postpone the event and possibly re-schedule to a new date after 19th July.
Unfortunately the Midland Hotel has no availability for the first two weeks after Mon 19th July and aren’t taking any new bookings until they have confirmation from the government regarding new guidance for large events. We also close as a school on Tuesday 20th July for the summer.

I know you will all be gutted by this news as we are as staff. Over 70 staff were going to be attending the event and were really looking forward to celebrating with you. I personally feel as though this is the final piece of ‘hard luck’ you’ve had in the last 18 months of disappointing COVID restrictions that have affected all of your lives.

I hope that at least having a cancellation notice now and not nearer the time you will at least be able to get any money back you may have spent on Prom dresses/suits etc.

Regarding refunds for the event; if you have paid by parent pay it will be automatically refunded. If you paid by ‘Pay-Point’ please can you email your name, sort code and account number to headofyear11@deantrustardwick.co.uk
