12th September 2022

Dear Parents & carers,

Re: Post-16 Application Evening – Thursday 22nd September (4pm-7pm)

Why attendance is vital

On Thursday 22nd September 2022 it is our post-16 evening and it is vital that you attend if your child is in Year 9, 10 or Year 11. It is not guaranteed that every school leaver will be accepted on their chosen course with their chosen provider at post-16, as competition for places across the city is extremely high. Therefore, all pupils and parents must have the highest quality advice of how to ensure applications have the best chance of success.

The aim of the evening is to:

  • Ensure you are fully informed about your child’s choices of education, employment or training once they leave Dean Trust Ardwick at the end of Year 11.
  • Understand the application process for local sixth forms, colleges and apprenticeships.
  • Allow you the opportunity to speak to representatives from local colleges, sixth forms and apprenticeship providers so that all of your questions can be answered.
  • Give you the opportunity to speak to our Level 6 careers advisor should you need any specialist support.

What the evening will consist of

The evening is a drop-in event and you can choose to join us at either 4pm, 5pm or 6pm. There will be a highly informative presentation on the different pathways beyond secondary school and so far, we have confirmed the attendance of 16 local providers of post-16 education, employment and training including:

  • Loreto Sixth Form.
  • Xaverian College.
  • The Manchester College.
  • Salford College (Pendleton, Eccles, FutureSkills@Media City).
  • Access Creative College.
  • Apprenticeship Companies
  • The Growth Company.
  • Ashton-on-Mersey Sixth Form.
  • Cheadle Hulme High School.
  • Greater Manchester Higher (for advice about university pathways).

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to our event on Thursday 22nd September 2022.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Fuller
