Dear Parents and Carers

Keeping Dean Trust Ardwick Covid Safe – Reintroduction of the use of face coverings

I hope that you are managing to enjoy some of the long-awaited sunshine. Unfortunately, the pandemic continues and in Manchester, we are seeing a sharp increase in rates. Rates are highest in the 11-18 age group but we are seeing rises in all age groups and across the whole borough.

For this reason, I am requesting the reintroduction of the use of face coverings in schools and ask that secondary school staff and pupils should restart wearing face coverings in communal areas. Specific recommendations to wear face coverings in classrooms may also be made during outbreak situations. In either event, school attendance should be prioritised and I would not wish to see children out of school because they either do or do not wish to wear face coverings

I understand some parents may have concerns regarding the use of face coverings. However, as rates of infection rise in general, and given the higher rates in secondary aged pupils in particular we are anxious to use every measure to contain infection that we can. Face coverings do provide some protection and will be an important addition to the suite of measures in place in schools.

Please help us keep Dean Trust Ardwick a Covid secure school so our children can continue to learn, grow and thrive. Covid is very infectious, so we need to take all of the measures to prevent infection. We all have to play our part and we are asking for your support so that we can together stop the spread of Covid.

Yours sincerely,

Ms S Finlay
